Breaking: Todd Gurley cutting weight and workload; won’t be the bellcow in ’19

After dominating the football (and fantasy football) world over the last few season’s, Todd Gurley saw a reduced workload during last season’s playoffs. Although the Rams kept quiet about the reason, it became known after the season. The League’s highest paid runner was suffering from arthritic knees.
In preparation for the 2019 season it appears that Gurley has decided to shed “5 to 10 lbs” to ease the pressure on his knees.

It’s also being reported that the team believes that his days as the “bell cow” are finished.

This is leading many to question the Los Angeles Rams for giving Gurley his big contract before last season.
The Rams could have gone year-to-year with Todd Gurley and paid him $2.3m in 2018 and $9.6m in 2019 before a ~$12m franchise tag in 2020, for a total of $23.9 million. Instead, they extended him last summer and guaranteed Gurley $40 million for those same three years.
